Community Leadership Academy launches

Register now for a free place on our programme for leaders of small community organisations.

Overview (Register below)

We are excited to announce that places are now open on our Community Leadership Academy specifically designed to support those leading small groups and organisations working with BAME communities.

Building on our successful Leadership Academy, this Community Leadership Academy 2021 will directly address the lack of leadership training tailored to the needs of small and micro charities that are led by and/ or serve BAME people. It will also address their development needs as they seek to adapt to the impact of COVID 19, which is creating increased and changing demands on voluntary and community groups’ work to ensure that existing inequalities are not further entrenched or worsened.

The year-long Academy is free to join and open to leaders of small and micro charities throughout the UK. The Academy commences in January 2021 and will run until the end of the year with a mix of monthly workshops and development sessions facilitated by Trust staff, as well as an array of experts from our partner organisations. Academy learning and development will be supported by online resources and networking, building on a comprehensive assessment in which participants identify their own leadership skills relative to the needs of their organisation. The Academy will cover areas including HR, PR & marketing, engagement, legal and governance and others as identified by Academy participants.

Who is this for?

Places on the Academy are limited and priority will go to smaller organisations, the largest of which will be up-to-15 members of staff. This Academy has been funded as a positive action initiative for Community Leaders with BAME identity or Community Leaders whose organisations have 50% or more BAME beneficiaries. We have a small number of places / some places specifically designated for leaders of groups in in Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. We also especially welcome expressions of interest from groups outside London and those that attended our Black Third Sector Summit 2020. To register your interest please complete the below application form by Friday 11th December 2020.
